A nice exchange between Jere Mead and Mike Baron about the difference between top experts and the rest of us.

And to add to Mike's sage observations, I'm often in the, say, #1-10 group (at present I am living in Vermont), but I don't play as much as I would like to, and when I'm out of practice I am likely to do exactly the sort of thing that Mike points to: overlook plays that I should be considering, make the occasional thoughtless choice. It's narrowness of thinking, not forgotten 5s and 8s, that costs me most when I'm tired or out of shape. (Examples to follow, April 23.)
